Winter trip: Malaga

As done 3 years ago, we were back here in Malaga, South Spain for our winter escape. Escape because I'm not really a winter person. Malaga has a warm weather through out the year. But our second visit to Andalucia was none other than for returning to my most favorite, Alhambra.

My initial plan was to have a rental car on our first day in Malaga, so we can easily reach our booked apartment. But I canceled the apartment because I think I don't want to have the car on our arrival, but to hop on the train from airport to city center. I love the idea of train as our transportation. So I cancelled the apartment and book Las Americas hotel just in front of the main Station Zambrano. Tapi cuba teka, my husband insisted to have rental car on the first day pula... Bye bye train.

The train station hotel wasn't cheap though, fahamlah sebab depan train station, but good thing was bawah tu ada kedai makan halal. So we just proceed with the plan.

lucky mom with kids who love travel as much as I do

Oh Malaga, always my favorite hub

deja vu!

menguruskan kereta sewa. mahalnya insuran kereta sewa!

lapar dah

 bawa car seat
oh feels so good to be back!

hotel area and the halal restaurant I was talking about.

Istanbul Doner Kebab restaurant, Zambrano train station, Malaga

grocery shopping at SuperSol, local chain market

I like local bread. Pegi mana-mana mesti tengok roti. Because bread represent the local. This shelf from SuperSol. Some of it are Sourdough bread.

It was a so-so hotel but we sleep soundly, too tired from the long day travel. We got Ronda in our travel itinerary for the next day but I thought we should see Malaga this time. Dah dua kali datang tapi tak pernah round Malaga. Macam blank pula, nak tengok apa kat Malaga.

view to Zambrano train station from my window.

Supersol market

round round dalam kereta je sebab hujan.

Other than bread, things that always caught my attention are local market and of course mosque. But too bad the market is closed on weekend.

 Malaga Grand mosque

but the mosque only open during salah time

Sambung jalan-jalan dalam kereta, until we decided to go to Alcazaba of Malaga. But only to view the Roman theater.

ni kat bahagian luar je, no need entrance ticket but
look at the lighting, must be a romantic place to stroll at night

After 12pm we drove back again to the hotel because, simply because the halal restaurant opens at 11am. Kepentingan makanan semasa travel. Thanks to the restaurant staff for halal butcher grocer location.

If you need halal butcher in Malaga, it is located at Calle Heroe de Sostoa, on your left (after SuperMercado)

Googled for the info but no to avail, so I hope this helps those in need.

And en route to Ronda...next entry.

Second Autumn in Birmingham

Autumn in Schipol 2015

Autumn is almost over and I have this sudden inner urge to write something in my blog.
Hello world! After 2 years of 'hiatus' haha. We are back here in Birmingham! Our MH flight on 8 November 2015 at 11AM (rescheduled after technical issue from previous night flight) . Landed at Schipol airport and stayed one night at a hotel with wonderful facilities ; heated pool which loved by the kids, and I like the buffet breakfast because they serve gluten free bread with organic yogurt. I think that is thoughtful and generous.
Autumn welcomed us in Europe. But I think it is colder this year, or will it be much colder every year? Well I have another 2 years
to check on it!

Sendayan Grape Farm

I think I have to update on our visit to Sendayan Grape Farm. I found it was hard to search for this farm info the days before we decided to go. If anyone need the information..

I love buying local especially on groceries. But too bad I found almost all seasonal fruits are imported mainly from US. Why do we have to import from the other part of world if we have highlands that can plants all these fruits?

Local grape search brought us to Sendayan Grape Fram in Sendayan , Negeri Sembilan. Because we live in Bangi so I consider the farm isn't too far and reachable any time. Only 40mins from home.

It was actually a large hectare of farm, but the place was a bit run down. There's only one worker, pakcik Arshad that we met and he explained that they do not sell the fruits for commercial. Regardless of that, they still accept some visits from groups or preschoolers and even from Singapore.

Black Opal

somehow Aariz geli pula grapes bulat2 tu

Dalam besar-besar kawasan tu, ini sajalah grapes yg masih 'hidup',  but Aariz enjoyed the place nevertheless just when he found chickens and ducks. Hmm..if only we have backyard chickens. And daddy is taking it into consideration since then....to my surprise!

this boy... fearless.

Sendayan Grape Farm is open everyday with RM5 charge per pax.

Paris : Moulin Rouge

It was raining a bit when we walked along rue des Abbesses in Montmarte district down to rue lepic for the Moulin Rouge. We asked someone about the direction and the first thing he told us that the area of rue lepic isn't good. Oh yeah, moulin rouge is an adult area yes we've prepared much for it pffttt

So what he really means was,

Ok tak sesuai untuk budak2 ye.. Aariz was sleeping so just mummy and daddy 'enjoy' the view.
I really wanted to see the moulin rouge place

just because..

the movie I watched with my housemates masa zaman MMU dulu
hehe

And then of coz we didn't spent so much time there, takda apa-apa pun yang menarik.
We hopped on the metro again and back to our cabin site at maison la fitte

dalam train..

And it was our last day in Paris, spring 2012.

InsyAllah I will update our 2nd Paris story , summer 2012.

Love Paris that much huh

Paris : up on a hill of Montmartre

From St Lazare, visiting 'our hotel' , we finally had a chance to hop on the metro at Gare St Lazare. It was here, this station connected to Disneyland parc (teringat percutian 2007). But we were heading up on a hill of Montmartre, so we get off at Abbesses (abes) station

I like the metro sign in Paris.

We didn't plan to go here, tapi ternampak masa berjalan tu, a small garden with huge 'I love you' collections. Teringat masa time skolah dulu suka mengumpul ini..

ambik..romantic?

Montmartre is located on a hill in north Paris. It has narrow cobble stone streets, which I like, and cafes side by side.

Ya pada hari siang memang nampak damai coz this place 'hidup' masa malam, nightclub district.

Hijabista minum kopi

Antara pengalaman yang saya tidak lupa apabila di sound penjaga kedai just because I said "Hi" and straightly asked direction. He said, we french don't Hi Hi. Maksudnya kena lebih manners bersopan daripada itu. ya, always bring your french pocket dictionary.

I love souvenirs shops!

Montmartre is famous for the white dome Basilica, Sacre Coeur. It is said that this place was once a village of artisan ..

..but all I can say is the place was crowd with tourists.

but this old man.. I liked him, always smile =)

the view of the city from the hill. We can see the new Paris over there..skyscraper buildings.

and heading down could take forever..

Montmartre is a beautiful place, it still maintain the village look like despite the bursting Paris.
